Hulu Selangor Polling Day

Malaysia’s ruling National Front coalition P. Kamalanathan won Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat near Kuala Kubu in Selangor. Selangor, Malaysia. 25/04/2010

National Front’s P. Kamalanathan garnered 24,997 votes with majority 1,725 votes to defeat Zaid Ibrahim from People’s Justice Party of People’s Alliance with 23,272 votes. The result was announced by Malaysia Election Commissioner at 9.30 pm (Malaysia time).   About 48,935 or 75.87 percents voters has cast their votes at 48 polling centers.

Hulu Selangor Parliamentary By-Election

Thousands of supporter of Malaysia’s political party from National Front, People’s Alliance and Independent gather outside the nominations center for Hulu Selangor Parliamentary seat by-election near Kuala Kubu in Selangor. Selangor, Malaysia. 17/04/2010

The Hulu Selangor by-election will facing four corners competition from National Front, a government ruling party, People’s Justice Party of People’s Alliance, an opposition party and two from independent. The seat fell vacant when Hulu Selangor MP Dr. Zainal Abidin Ahmad died on March 25. Hulu Selangor Parliamentary by-elections will be held on April 25.

Grave-Sweeping Day

Chinese women visit the graves of their relatives during Qing Ming festival or Grave-Sweeping Day at the Chinese cemetary in Nilai outside Kuala Lumpur. O5/04/2010.

The Qing Ming Festival is an important date in the Chinese calendar. On the day, Chinese families visit the graves of relatives to clean tombstones and burn offerings aimed at appeasing the dead in the afterlife.
