Haji

They are among the first batch of 450 Malaysian Haj pilgrims that will leave for the Holy Land of Mecca in Saudi Arabia tonight. About 28,000 Malaysians are expected to perform the pilgrimage during this year’s Haj season along with 3 million Muslims from other parts of the world. Haj is the fifth pillar of Islam and every Muslim is required to perform it at least once a lifetime if they can afford to do so.

Eid Al-Fitr 2011

Lemang is a traditional Malay food made of glutinous rice and coconut milk and cooked in a hollowed bamboo stick. This dish is popularly served during the Eid al-Fitr celebration. Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid al-Fitr, to mark the end of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.

Malaysian Muslim today celebrate Eid al-Adha, the Muslim ” “Festival of Sacrifice” in village of Gombak.  17/11/2010.   Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha by slaughtering camels, sheep, goats and cows to commemorate God’s gift of a ram to substitute for Abraham’s son, distributing the meat amongst family, friends and the poor.

Ramadan Bazaar 2010, 2

Millions of Muslims are expected to leave the capital city to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr with their families while others take the opportunity to rush to ramadan Bazaar for last minutes shopping.  Malaysia’s Muslim will celebrate the Eid al-Fitr on Friday, September 10 to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
